it will be more difficult to build than the wood residential style buildings, meaning they can't use their cheap unskilled labor force for a lot of the work.

The more I think about JeffT's idea the more I'm convinced that he is right. Renting out the Kingdom Hall would turn the building into a cash cow that can be milked indefinitely.

Searcher, the congregations are under the control of the Governing Body and the Governing Body is amoral. Remember, these are the same people who affiliated themselves with the United Nations in spite of what they taught.

I wonder if they will rent the hall to other religious groups. Pentecostals perhaps?
Seriously, they would probably have 3 or 4 congregations meeting at one hall which would come out to 2-3 complete days vacant per hall per week as well as 6 partial days. They may even move the Sunday meetings to Saturday if any church group wanted to rent it on Sunday only. There's quite a few churches that meet in rented halls in my neighborhood - all of them Charismatic.

i have found the issue with the user post-counts being incorrect and the update to put them right is running right now.
it's upto people who joined about 5 years ago so if you're more recent than that just give it a while before checking again.. i've made a few tweaks to the css to fix some issues with ie which caused the side-bar to be pushed down under the main content instead of alongside it and also the reply counters didn't have any color to indicate the busiest topics.. the snippet / topic preview options should now be a little neater and clearer.. other than that, most of the changes have been backend stuff around optimization so nothing really to see but it should pave the way for feedback on the post like / dislike voting and other goodies..

Have you tried contacting a Catholic university or college to see if they have a copy in their library? Perhaps you have one nearby. I doubt that if they do you'll be able to check it out but they might allow you to read it in their library.
Also, you may try contacting the offices of Catholic Biblical Quarterly and see if they can send you a photocopy of the article.
